Springfield Community Chorus
The Springfield Community Chorus, a group of about 40 members in its 45th year, enjoyed a very successful Christmas concert season with our new director, Kenneth Olsson. Over 400 people attended our two concerts, and choristers have heard many rave reviews from those people.
We are looking forward to our second season with Ken, which starts with a rehearsal on Monday, January 9, 2012. Rehearsals are each Monday night, 7–9 p.m., at the Springfield Unitarian-Universalist Church, 21 Fairground Rd., Springfield, Vermont. We welcome all parts – soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. The ability to read music is very helpful, but not required. The ability to sing accurately is important, but there are no auditions. Adults are asked to pay dues of $30 per season. We welcome teenagers, and full-time students do not have to pay dues.
The music this coming season will be great opera choruses and show tunes. Ken Olsson’s first love is opera, and he is also knowledgeable about musical theater. Working on this type of music with Ken will be a wonderful experience. The chorus will produce two concerts in the spring. The first will be Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Ludlow (Vt.) Town Hall, in the newly renovated auditorium, at 7:30 p.m. The second spring concert will be at First Congregational Church UCC, 77 Main Street, Springfield, Vermont, 3 p.m., on Sunday, April 1, 2012. Before joining us, please be sure you will be able to sing in both these concerts.
For further information, or to give us your name and contact information if you want to sing with us, please call Harriet Wood, Manager, Springfield Community Chorus, at 802-885-5475, or e-mail hmcw@vermontel.net Pre-registering is not necessary, but it is helpful for the chorus librarian who can start his list and prepare packets of music — and let us get settled and start singing quickly at the first rehearsal.
