Founded in 1953, The Area Choir is a spirited and joyous community choir that is open to all who love to sing. The Choir provides an excellent musical experience in a friendly, supportive atmosphere with no fee, church affiliation, or audition required. The Choir performs annual free Christmas concerts, holds a summer sing open to all, and participates in community events according to the choir’s availability. The Area Choir is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, supported through business and individual donations, grants, and a free-will offering at each concert.

Directed by Susan Cancio-Bello, the 50-voice choir will perform a delightful and moving program of familiar and new selections and will be joined by the audience in singing several Christmas carols. The choir will be accompanied by Alexander Stewart, pianist; Katie Parker Ames, flutist; Nicolas Kleinschmidt, organist; and the South Congregational Church Earle Pollard Memorial Bell Choir will round out the program. There is no fee to attend. Free-will donations are appreciated.

Rehearsals and concerts are held in the beautiful setting of South Congregational Church, at 20 Church Street in Newport, NH.
